Cops hold meeting over illegal fertilizer trade in Assam

GUWAHATI: As follow-up action on Special DGP (Law and Order) GP Singh's directive to all Superintendents of Police to crack down on illegal trade in Assam quota fertilizers, the Crime Branch of Guwahati police held a meeting with fertilizer dealers, wholesalers and transporters of Guwahati on Monday.

According to sources, the police sought information regarding the fertilizer traders' and transporters' turnover, where they sell the fertilizers and whether Assam quota urea is being sent outside the State.

Another meeting with a separate group of traders and transporters will be held tomorrow, the sources added.
